The creature in the basement

I took the rest of the week off from work, so I could relax, spend time with the family and otherwise just veg before things get really crazy from now until Election day. I imagine I’m going to be spending nearly every waking minute writing code, rewriting code, then writing a little more code from now until a few days after the election. I had to wrap up loose ends last night, then a few more this morning, but that’s it, I’m done until Tuesday! (yea right)

I got my 3 mile run in yesterday morning before work. It was soggy. Tropical storm Fay just won’t go away. I wore my old rain shell on the run, I think that was a mistake. I got just as wet as I would have without it, only it was sweat and not rain that drenched me. Live and learn. Funny, I don’t remember it having that effect back in the good old days.

This morning was interval work on the treadmill and tomorrow is a 2 mile run with a 4 miler scheduled for early Saturday morning. I’m hoping the wife and I can take the boy down to the Silver Comet trail and get a nice walk in sometime this week too. Of course, if it never stops raining, I guess that won’t be happening.

Naturally the week I decided to take off was our (ok, my wife’s) week to host play group. Since I didn’t really want to sit around with a bunch of ladies I don’t know watching kids I don’t know play, I took that opportunity to finally put the second coat of paint on the basement/my workout area. It’s now a nice solid Georgia Bulldog red just in time for football season. I put the first coat on back in early June. I guess you could say that project took a little longer than anticipated thanks to a resource crunch.

Anyway, I guess the roller sounded funny from upstairs, so my wife got to explain the situation, so they probably think I’m either some anti-social creep or a leper, but I got the job I’ve been putting off done, avoided doing something I didn’t really want to do, and probably burned some good calories all at the same time. All in all, I think that’s a win for me :)
